Mike Duich
President & CEO

Mike Duich was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in January 2023 and previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from February 2021 to December 2022.
Mike has 30+ years of medical device and industry experience. Prior to joining MVE, Mike served in executive roles for Sun Med / Salter Labs, including as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Operations and R&D Engineering. Previously, Mike held senior technology, product and business development positions with Philips, Respironics, Applied Biosystems, Tyco Healthcare, and Johnson & Johnson.

Mike received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Florida.

Karl T. Schmidt
Chief Financial Officer

Karl Schmidt formally joined MVE in October of 2020 as the VP of Finance and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer.

Karl has more than 18 years of experience in financial management and strategy, including more than 12 years as a financial leader in cryogenic storage and transportation equipment manufacturing. Prior to joining MVE Biological Solutions, Karl held various roles within Chart Industries Inc., where he was Director of Internal Audit, Vice President of Finance for the Distribution and Storage Division, Vice President of Acquisitions and Integration, and finally, Vice President & Corporate Controller.

Karl received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy and his MBA from the University of Akron in Ohio.

Buzz Bies
Senior Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer

Buzz Bies began his career with an MVE predecessor company in 1985, prior to its acquisition by MVE in 1986. He has 38+ years of International Sales and Management experience focused on the cryogenic marketplace.

Buzz has served in various commercial positions within the company (Chart & MVE), including General Manager of the Business segment.

Buzz received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of New Hampshire.

Holly Rhodes
Senior Director – Human Resources

Holly Rhodes joined MVE as the Senior Director – Human Resources in May of 2021.

Holly has over 20 years of experience in talent acquisition, project management, and HR leadership roles in technology consulting and international organizations. Prior to joining MVE Biological Solutions, she was the Global HR Director at Interra International, where she was responsible for developing and implementing human resources strategies, initiatives, and policies, as well as Interra’s overall talent acquisition and retention strategy.

Holly received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia and is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
